Blog: It’s what you post.
::blink:: Y’know those “Verb: It’s what you do” public service announcements that have been running on MTV lately? Apparently the intent behind them is to combat obesity by urging teenagers to do something besides sit in front of the television.
At least I’m not the only one who was absolutely stumped by these rather pointless PSAs. In fact, I’ve a little slogan that sums the whole campaign up: “Vague: It’s what you shouldn’t be.” (link via MetaFilter)
Another thought that occurred to me today, upon seeing another of those inane PSAs: Aren’t “sit”, “sleep”, “rest” and “lounge” all verbs? 😉

First off, those commercials are designed for tweens (9-13 year olds); not teens. They mostly involve cartoons and the campaign included a kid friendly website.
Second off, its intention isn’t just to fight obesity, but to prevent diseases such as heart disease and diabetes (commonly associated with obesity). In addition, it encourages kids to perform “proactive” activities, thus developing positive relationships and living healthier lifestyles.
